Dr Helen Whitfield-Williams started her career in the Aerospace industry working in both defence and commercial aviation but when the manufacturing sector in Wales collapsed, she joined the NHS. Helen initially joined as a bank nurse to subsidise her income whilst setting up a motorcycle engineering company with her father. Helen progressed in her clinical role and spent her last five years community nursing for the acute response team. After 13 years of NHS service Helen was sent to Clinical Engineering with a broken device and never returned.  Helen remained in Clinical Engineering at the University Hospital of Wales. Helen subsequently set up her own Clinical Engineering company as an Ophthalmic equipment specialist. In 2018 Helen joined the University of the West of England as a self-funding PhD student where she is now a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Engineering on the Practitioner Training Programme (Degree Apprenticeship). Helens passion is workforce development within Clinical Engineering and Renal Technology. Earlier this month Helen defended her PhD titled; The Role of Clinical Engineering: Professional Identity, Workforce Development and Training.

He currently serves as the Vice Chair of AXREM, the premier UK trade association representing suppliers of diagnostic medical imaging, radiotherapy, healthcare IT, and care equipment. In this governance role, he works alongside the association's Chair to spearhead strategic policy, foster member engagement, and advocate for modernized health-tech adoption within the NHS and private healthcare sectors.In addition to his executive committee duties, Childe serves as AXREM's Imaging IT Convenor, where he leverages his deep technical expertise to guide industry standards and policy frameworks. He was highly instrumental in leading the development and launch of the AXREM Imaging IT Manifesto, a strategic roadmap focused on optimizing digital radiology workflows and interoperability across healthcare networks.Concurrently, Childe is the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Soliton IT Ltd, a leading developer of radiology information systems (RIS) and diagnostic workflow software. Helen progressed in her clinical role and spent her last five years community nursing for the acute response team. After 13 years of NHS service Helen was sent to Clinical Engineering with a broken device and never returned.  Helen remained in Clinical Engineering at the University Hospital of Wales. Helen subsequently set up her own Clinical Engineering company as an Ophthalmic equipment specialist. Dr Helen Whitfield-Williams started her career in the Aerospace industry working in both defence and commercial aviation but when the manufacturing sector in Wales collapsed, she joined the NHS. Helen initially joined as a bank nurse to subsidise her income whilst setting up a motorcycle engineering company with her father. Helen progressed in her clinical role and spent her last five years community nursing for the acute response team. After 13 years of NHS service Helen was sent to Clinical Engineering with a broken device and never returned.  Helen remained in Clinical Engineering at the University Hospital of Wales. Helen subsequently set up her own Clinical Engineering company as an Ophthalmic equipment specialist. In 2018 Helen joined the University of the West of England as a self-funding PhD student where she is now a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Engineering on the Practitioner Training Programme (Degree Apprenticeship). Helens passion is workforce development within Clinical Engineering and Renal Technology. Paul Fenton MBE is a Chartered Electrical Engineer, having extensive experience over the last 42 years within the Building Services and Facilities Management industry in both the public and private sectors, across the UK and Europe. He was awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in Her Majesty the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list in 2021 for services to the NHS in the United Kingdom.Paul is a Past President of The Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management (IHEEM) and previously held the position of National Chairman of the Health Estates and Facilities Management Association (HEFMA). He is also a Fellow of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), a Fellow of The Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management (IHEEM) and a Fellow of The Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM).Following a successful career with a Regional Electricity Company, and joining the NHS in 2001, he has held senior positions in a number of NHS trusts in both the acute and mental health sectors and was the Executive Director of Estates and Facilities for East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) prior to his semi-retirement in April 2023 to start his consultancy business. Richard is currently Director of Medical Physics and Bioengineering at University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS FT. Additionally, Richard is a Royal Academy of Engineering visiting Professor in regulated medical technologies at Heriot Watt University, helping develop “real world skills” in the field of healthcare technology design, adoption and management. Specifically the RAE award lets Richard share his expertise in the application of international electromedical safety standards and medical device risk management processes with those involved in developing novel medical devices.

Richard chairs IEC SC62A.the sub committee responsible for common aspects of medical equipment, software, and systems standards within the IEC 60601 series of standards. He is therefore significantly inolved with BSI and with the AAMI organization in the US.
