With over 14 years of NHS experience within medical device management and 10 years in electronics industry, I lead a team overseeing departmental operations and project management. I hold qualifications in Electronics and Communication Engineering as well as Instrumentation Engineering. My role includes assisting with capital device replacement, leading new service projects, and investigating incidents to ensure safety and efficiency in healthcare technology. As a Registered Clinical Technologist (RCT) Assessor, I support the professional development of clinical technologists. As a member of NAMDET (National Association of Medical Device Educators and Trainers), I work to enhance training standards for healthcare professionals. I currently develop and manage the Trust’s user training database and maintain and implement the RFID device tracking system to improve asset management. I am committed to providing safe, efficient services to staff and patients and to driving continuous improvement in healthcare delivery."

Darren Boyce is the Head of Global Technical Services at Penlon, where he has played a central role since 2010 in shaping and delivering global service and support operations. He leads technical support, training, and service functions worldwide, working closely with distributors and customers to improve performance, streamline processes, and support the successful rollout of new anaesthesia and ventilation products.Before joining Penlon, Darren built extensive experience in technical service leadership across the healthcare sector. At Spacelabs, he served as Global Technical Support Manager for the anaesthesia and ventilation division, overseeing technical support, training, and distributor engagement on an international scale. He also held service management roles at Air Liquide and Blease Medical, where he established and developed service operations within critical care and anaesthesia.Darren began his career as a Biomedical Engineer in NHS hospitals, gaining practical, hands-on experience with medical devices. Vee is Co‑Director of the NIHR HealthTech Research Centre in Accelerated Surgical Care. This means she helps guide how research is organised and makes sure new medical technologies are developed, tested, and introduced safely and responsibly, with patients’ needs at the centre.

Throughout her career, Vee has worked within the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), supporting research that aims to improve treatments, services, and patient outcomes. She has helped surgeons, researchers, and technology companies work together to turn ideas into tools that can be used in hospitals and clinics.

David Attwell is Head of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he provides strategic leadership across Clinical Engineering, Clinical Scientific Computing, Radiation Physics and MRI Physics.  He has a lead role in ensuring that medical technology and clinical systems are effectively integrated to support safe, efficient and high-quality patient care. David has a strong interest in the role of digital technology and connected medical devices in delivering Fit for the Future: The 10 Year Health Plan for England and enabling modern, data-enabled healthcare services. He works at regional and national level to support collaboration and standardisation as Joint Lead Clinical Engineer for the London Clinical Engineering Network and London representative on the National Clinical Engineering Network. He is passionate about workforce development across all Clinical Engineering roles and the importance of collaboration in driving sustainable NHS transformation.

An electronics engineer by background Richard has 40 years experience as a practising clinical engineer, manager and leader within the NHS. His areas of expertise involve medical device design, management and supporting clinical instrumentation, with research interests in respiratory mechanics and digital signal processing.

Richard is currently Director of Medical Physics and Bioengineering at University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS FT. Additionally, Richard is a Royal Academy of Engineering visiting Professor in regulated medical technologies at Heriot Watt University, helping develop “real world skills” in the field of healthcare technology design, adoption and management. Specifically the RAE award lets Richard share his expertise in the application of international electromedical safety standards and medical device risk management processes with those involved in developing novel medical devices.

Richard chairs IEC SC62A.the sub committee responsible for common aspects of medical equipment, software, and systems standards within the IEC 60601 series of standards. He is therefore significantly inolved with BSI and with the AAMI organization in the US.
